First up, big congratulations to everyone in the NovaVision Music Contest, II Edition. The board was full of talent, and a special shout-out to Matt from MAIN Records, who took 1st place with "F.A.F.O." on 215 points. The top ten ran from MAIN Records down to Temptation of the Priest, and 23 entries in total made the board. I was proud to see AiDIY family up there too, including Professor Jacket Music and FromJuneToDecember.
We also had a 3.3 hour Open Genre live on Monday, a 2.7 hour impromptu Wheel replay on Tuesday, a new Featured Five, and a podcast with Bridget, aka Tech Cowgirl, about why the stigma around AI music is the real problem. Plus I tested Meloty to see if an all-in-one song-to-video workflow actually holds up.
🎄 Calling all Christmas songs
I'm looking for Christmas songs to play all through December! My aim is to get as many as I can onto the Featured Five, and if there are too many great ones to fit, the Featured Five might just become the Featured Seven.
Got a festive track? Send it in through the submission form. Your best Christmas song, any style.
This week's videos
AiDIY Sunday Live - Open Genre. No Challenge - Week 2
A 3.3 hour Open Genre live with no challenge and no rules. Week 2 of the two-week open genre run, with one submission per person and songs played up to 4:40. If you want to hear what the community does when there are no constraints, this is the one. (Live, 3.3 hours)
AIDIY Live Impromptu - Playing The Wheel's Unplayed Songs
A 2.7 hour impromptu stream where I didn't take submissions and just played the songs that didn't get played two weeks ago. A good catch-up if you missed the Wheel the first time. (Live, 2.7 hours)
Week 106: 5 AI Artists Creating Something Special!
Week 106 of the Featured Artist Series, with five tracks from 8 L1VES, Ink Serenade, P.Peeva, AGOMETAL and Suniva. Short intros and clips, and a nudge to go support the artists directly. (9 min)
AI Music Isn't the Problem. The Stigma Is. | ft. @nebularhythmmusic
Part 1 of a podcast with Bridget, aka Tech Cowgirl, a classically trained musician who embraced AI music. We get into the stigma, transparency, and why people judge a song differently once they know AI was involved. This one gets to the heart of Music Is For Everyone. (44 min)
I've Finally Found A Great Way To Create AI Music & Video in One Place!
I tested Meloty to see how easy it is to go from an AI-generated song to a complete music video in one workflow. Lyrics, song, characters, clips, editing, and my honest take on the final result. Worth watching if you're curious about all-in-one tools. (15 min)
