Create Ai Tunes - Cash In With Apple Music

How to Create AI Music and Upload It to Apple Music with DistroKid

In today’s blog post, we’re breaking down the steps to create your AI-generated music and distribute it across platforms like Apple Music. If you’re new to the world of AI music or looking to streamline the process, this guide will help you understand how to bring your creation to the masses.

Purpose of the Episode

The purpose of this video is to show you how to create AI music using ChatGPT and Suno, and then distribute that music on platforms like Apple Music using DistroKid. I’ll also touch on the challenges and responses from the music community, the legality of AI-generated music, and how to make revenue once your music is live. Spoiler: You need a lot of plays!

Overview of Services

  • DistroKid: This is a music distribution platform that allows you to upload your songs and have them pushed to multiple platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.). You’ll learn how to upload, manage, and release your AI music through DistroKid, plus the options available for adding album art, song titles, and more.

    Check it out

  • Apple Music for Artists: After you upload your song to Apple Music, you’ll want to claim your music on Apple Music for Artists. This is where you can verify your artist profile, track your song's performance, and manage your catalog.

Learn more about the sign-up process here.

  • Suno: This is the AI service used to generate music from the lyrics you create with tools like ChatGPT. You can input your lyrics and select a musical style, and Suno will take care of the rest. You’ll even have the option to fine-tune your creation by adjusting the style and sound.

    Explore Suno here.

Order of Steps

  1. Create Lyrics with ChatGPT: Begin by prompting ChatGPT to generate lyrics for your song. You can input a theme, specific lines, or just the overall vibe you want, and ChatGPT will provide you with the lyrics you need. For more control, you can tweak and adjust these lyrics to your liking.

  2. Generate Music Using Suno: After you’ve nailed down the lyrics, head over to Suno. You’ll input your lyrics and choose your preferred music style (rock, funk, pop, etc.). Suno will then generate the instrumental track that fits your vision. Once you’re happy with the result, download the song in WAV format for the best quality.

  3. Upload to DistroKid: Now, it’s time to distribute your music. DistroKid allows you to upload your AI-generated song and distribute it across multiple platforms. You’ll need to upload your WAV file, provide your album cover, select the release date, and choose your genre. If you're new to DistroKid, you can find a sign-up tutorial in my previous video.

  4. Claim Your Music on Apple Music for Artists: Once your song is live on Apple Music, it’s important to claim your music through the Apple Music for Artists portal. This allows you to manage your artist profile, track your song’s performance, and ensure everything is correctly attributed to you.

Legal and Revenue Considerations

As mentioned in the episode, some people have concerns about the legality of uploading AI-generated music. Services like DistroKid and Suno allow you to upload AI-generated music as long as you own the rights to the content. In the case of Suno, if you use the free version, you need to cite Suno as the source. Be sure to review the terms of service on each platform to ensure compliance.

Revenue-wise, generating income from AI music requires a significant number of streams. While I’m transparent about the fact that I haven’t made revenue yet, others have. Just don’t expect it overnight—success takes time, effort, and a whole lot of plays!
